Your Essential Guide to Co-working: How to Work Harmoniously

By definition, co-working is an arrangement where workers for different companies and individuals share an office space. Co-working is the flexibility many people are looking for in 2024.

It’s still a fairly new concept to many, so we’re here to give you the ins and outs of coworking etiquette. Because after all, a happy co-working space is a harmonious co-working space!

· Respect other people’s space.

Our co-working spaces are shared spaces. That means desks, kitchen space and other facilities. Be aware of who’s around you and don’t mess with another coworker’s setup. If you can, leave space between desks, think about doing so.

· Keep it clean.

Cleanliness is key in a shared space. No one wants an email sent around about not putting dirty dishes in the dishwasher. We’re really proud of the spaces we create and want to maintain them the best we can. Please clean up as you go throughout the day.

· Be mindful of your noise levels 

Running a business often requires a lot of networking, meetings and arranging calls. We understand this and have provided phone booths throughout our co-working spaces. These can be booked via our reception team and are perfect for taking private calls without disturbing others.

· Use headphones for audio.

Following on from keeping it quiet, we encourage our coworkers to use headphones when listening to audio. Whether this is for a call, editing content or listening to a podcast. Some people like to work in silence so we try to be mindful of other people’s working needs.

· Don’t take what’s not yours.

We all know it’s tempting to help yourself with a phone charger you need or a slice of cake that’s in the fridge left unattended. Wizu often has spare chargers and regularly

provides snacks and drinks throughout the week so please stick to what’s yours, or check if you’re unsure.

· Get involved in events and networking.

We frequently hold events in our centres and highly encourage our Wizu members to get involved! Whether it’s a quiz night, a wine and cheese spread or an industry-specific networking event, we want our members to join in! It’s a great way to get to know the other Wizu members you see every day without the awkward introductions.
