Signs You Need A Serviced Office Space

By wizu | 26 October 2020

Working from home is often the perfect solution when you have a freelance business or a new startup. However, there eventually comes a time when you may need to consider relocating to an office. It’s a huge decision, one that you don’t want to make lightly.

There are many considerations to review before making such a big move. Get the timing wrong, and your company will suffer a large financial mistake. On top of that, making the decision at the wrong time could also keep the business from growing.

So, how can you tell when the time is right to move to a serviced office? We’ve put together a list of signs that now’s the time for the big move.

1). You Need to Hire More Staff

Working from your home office alone is one thing. But what happens when it’s time to hire employees? Think about that for a minute. Bringing employees into your home office could be disrupting for your family. In addition, your home office may not have space to accommodate additional people and their laptops.

Now you have an idea of the scenario you could be facing. Consider the fact that working from a home office can also make it difficult to find applicants. It can be difficult to find those who are willing to work in your home office.

2). Not Enough Space at Home

Does your home offer enough space for your work? Take a look around right now at your working environment. Are you working in a corner of the living room, from the bedroom, or even at the kitchen table? Is this environment conducive to your productivity and sanity?

Working from home is great, but you may have to deal with many disruptions as you try to work. Consider, for instance, what happens if you’re camped out on the sofa and the kids want to watch their favourite TV show? You need peace and quiet, but the kids want to watch a show that’s noisy. What do you do? How does this affect your work?

Another consideration is the equipment you need for work. If you’re an architect, you’ll need a large drawing table. Does your home have enough space for it?

3). Company Finances are in Good Shape

Next, consider your company finances. If you’d like to move to an office, can you afford the rent? Choosing a traditional office usually means you’ll have to commit to a long-term lease. This could be anywhere from 1-5 years. Then they may also require a deposit. And remember you’ll be responsible for utilities, other services (Internet, telephony), maintenance & repairs, and more. Can your business comfortably afford all of this?

If so, what happens if there’s a downturn in business? Will the company still be able to meet all of its responsibilities?

This is one of the reasons many startups, freelancers and entrepreneurs choose a serviced office. The leases are usually flexible and include all kinds of perks including a furnished office, utilities, network services, and much more.

4). You Require More Facilities & Support

Are you finding that there isn’t enough support, and you don’t have access to facilities you need? This is another advantage of choosing a serviced office.

Many serviced offices provide additional support and access to facilities to run your business. For example, you’ll have access to printers, IT support, monitored reception, and more.

You’ll have the support and access to facilities needed to make your business run smoothly. This is a cost-effective solution to either a traditional office space or buying additional services and equipment for your home office.

5). See Clients on a Regular Basis

Of course, you can see clients in your home office; however, as your business grows, having a serviced office will add an air of credibility to your company. Plus, you’ll have a more professional environment to meet and work with a client.

How do your meetings with clients go at home? Are the meetings disrupted by kids running, fighting, and needing something? Does the dog jump on everyone that comes into your home? Has the house been cleaned, or is there laundry stacked all over waiting to be put away?

You need the right environment to hold productive meetings with your clients. A serviced office fulfils this need. What’s more, your clients will be impressed to meet you in a more professional environment.

6). Frequently Work at Local Coffee House

Sometimes working from home is just too distracting. Do you find yourself leaving more often to work at the local coffee house? If so, then it’s probably time to consider a serviced office.

You’ll have a distraction-free, private environment in which to work. And a service office allows room for your business to grow! A coffee house doesn’t offer that.

7). You’d Like More Prestigious Location

If you’re starting to feel like a better location would help your business, then this is a good clue it’s time to move to a serviced office. Most serviced offices are located in prime business locations. Not only do these provide a prestigious address for your business, they’re also easier to reach. This is especially the case if the office is located near motorways and public transportation links. Not only will you have a shorter commute, but clients and visitors will also find it easier and faster to reach your office.

Also consider that if you rent a traditional office in the same location, the rent will be extremely high. On the other hand, a serviced office in this area will cost less. You’ll be able to afford an office in a prestigious location, but without all the costs involved.

Plus, a service office comes with a flexible lease. You may be able to try out different locations to see which one is best for you and your company. That way you have more flexibility than being tied down to a single traditional office.

These are a few of the clues that it’s time to take your business to a new office. A serviced office provides everything needed to run your business, without the cost and long-term lease of a traditional office. Instead, a service office offers a cost-effective solution along with a flexible lease. And it comes with many perks that you’ll be able to enjoy.
