Meet the team: Behind the scenes with Lead Project Manager Dean

They say the people make the place, and at Wizu we’re certainly not short of amazing people. In our latest meet the team series, we asked our project management hero and all round lovely human being, Dean, to let us get to know him a little better. Here we go!

Tell us what you do at Wizu?
My job title is Lead Project Manager, this involves liaising with all key stakeholders to deliver new centres for Wizu (achieving set deadlines and staying within budget). I also support the management of all larger scale refurbs and builds in our existing portfolio.

I have to say, my role and the results we achieve are only made possible by the support of the fantastic centre teams and all key departments within the business. 

3 things that make you happy?
Eating great food whilst drinking long island ice teas with my fiancée.
Spending time with my son.
Watching the soaps, notably Emmerdale.

What motivates you?
Simply hitting the goals and tasks set by my line managers and those set by myself each day.

Biggest work achievement?
With my previous roles it must be winning store of the year for Topshop and Topman, whilst for Wizu it is opening 55 St Pauls and completing the Leeming large scale refurb whilst the centre was fully open- it certainly came with its challenges but the results have been amazing!

Biggest life achievement?
My son Jacob.

What’s your go-to karaoke song (even if it’s a guilty pleasure)?
Red light spells danger by Billy Ocean though I am literally tone death.

What’s your secret talent or party trick?
I would have to say my stamina when dancing as proved as the recent Wizu fest conference!! Though I can do a good impression of Michael Caine!!

Which Wizu building are you based in and what do you enjoy most about it?
I’m generally based in Leeds however given the nature of my role I can often be found in any Wizu building! For me it’s the people, but the bright and uplifting design certainly provides an inspiring backdrop!
