Leeds MicroBusiness Support provides a range of resources that are aimed specifically at micro-businesses (from 0-99 employees). You’ll find information about business finances, business strategy, marketing, HR, working safely, and community engagement.
6). PAPI Leeds City Region
The PAPI project offers grants in the Leeds City Region. It’s geared towards small businesses that develop innovative, new products. The grant can be used for equipment and provides the following support for businesses:
- 40% grant for equipment that makes it easier to develop innovative products create jobs and growth. The maximum grant value is £20k.
- Expert business development support, which helps develop funding proposals
- Guidance and advice for the application process

FareShare is an organisation that provides funds to UK food businesses to offset the costs of sending quality surplus food to good causes. This means the communities who need access to quality foods receive what they need, without businesses having to resort to throwing food away.
FareShare funds are used to get this food to charities and community groups that help vulnerable people. Businesses may be eligible to receive up to £50k worth of funding. However, it may be possible to negotiate larger sums for high volumes of surplus foods.

The Manufacturing Recovery Plan for SME Manufacturers has been developed by the University of Huddersfield, in collaboration with Leeds City Region LEP, the Manufacturing Supply Chain Programme, and the Manufacturing Recovery Plan. The programme was created to support local manufacturing SMEs to build long-term resilience through a three-stage approach to stabilise, recover, and grow.
The plan is to help SME manufacturers respond to Brexit and other issues faced by these industries in recent years. The plan supports your business with the following:
- A strategic review and individual action plan
- Dedicated support from manufacturing specialists
- Regular meetings with an experienced Client Manager to support your business through each stage of the plan
- Interactions, funding, and grants dependent on your needs and availability
- Collaboration with and referral to other relevant LEP programmes of support
