Say hello to Philippa Taylor – Community Manager at 32 Eyre Street

What is your current role at Wizu Workspace?

I’m the Community Manager at 32 Eyre Street – the new Wizu Workspace in Sheffield. My role is the to create a sense of community for the members and make sure it’s an environment where people thrive and feel excited to come to work every day.

What did you do before joining the team in Sheffield?

Before working for Wizu I was a Digital Project Manager working specifically on website builds at a Sheffield-based agency. I worked with businesses across a variety of sectors, understanding their needs and learning how their companies worked so that I could support them by developing solutions that suited their needs. I’m looking forward to applying this level of understanding to the members who join 32 Eyre Street.

What do you love about working at Wizu?

I’ve not been here long, but from day one, I’ve been made to feel like part of the family. I felt totally comfortable as soon as I walked through the door and because of that, I had no first day nerves. It might sound cheesy, but it’s genuinely a pleasure to come work every day.

What do you like to do outside of work?

I’m one half of Indie Sheffield, which helps to promote local independent businesses and makers. This means I spend lots of time in cafes and at craft fairs finding new and interesting people, places and products to share with our followers. I’m really passionate about working with and supporting local businesses.

Tell us one thing that about you that few people know?

Don’t tell anyone, but I played violin at school for years and all that time I was pretending. I can’t play a note, but no one seemed to notice.

If you could invite anyone in the world to work at Wizu for one day, who would it be and why?

I’d invite the US based interior designer Sarah Sherman Samuel. She’s an incredible designer and stylist but she’s also a very cool ‘Girl Boss’ so it would be amazing to show her around Wizu and pick her brain! I’d also love to invite Louis Theroux just so we could hang out – I bet he’s got some great stories! Who knows, maybe he will pop by when the next Doc Fest is on.
